Thanksgiving Holiday Office Closure

Most city offices are closed 11/28 & 11/29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Refuse, recycle, and yard waste services are delayed one day for the holiday. Our yard waste drop off site at 2001 Butterworth St SW is closed on Thanksgiving day. The site is open Friday and Saturday from 7:30 am to 4 pm.

Development with Us Projects

Development with Us (DwUs) is a pilot program designed to facilitate meaningful engagement between residents, neighborhood associations, and developers. Below is a list of completed and on-going projects within the program, facilitated by the Planning Department.

GRFD Station - 1823 S Division Ave

The Grand Rapids Fire Department would like to propose a new fire station at 1823 S Division Ave.

4040 Kalamazoo Ave SE - GRFD Station

The City of Grand Rapids Fire Department is planning redevelopment of the subject property to construct a new fire station. Demolition of an existing home will be required to facilitate the project.

1644 Ball Ave NE - Hidden Bluff

Brave Development are proud to propose their latest multi-family, townhome development on Ball Ave. A new roadway will be constructed to facilitate the project.

1919 Boston St SE - Beacon Hill

Amend the Planned Redevelopment District to rebuild independent living and assisted living facilities, add parking and community coffee shop, enhance memory care unit, and provide outdoor activity space.

1865 Eastern Ave SE - MVillage

MVillage, a Messiah Missionary Baptist Church initiative, is seeking approval to redevelop this site to include apartments for rent and townhouses or condominiums to own. They are currently operating a community meeting space and clothing closet in the existing building and are now eager to unveil their expanded vision for the property. There are two opportunities to learn and be heard;

425 & 427 Eastern Ave SE - Guiding Light

Guiding Light is seeking approval to create a home for women in
recovery. The home will provide transitional housing for 11 women and 1 full time live-in house manager. No social services will occur in the home; and no changes are proposed to the exterior. Parking is provided on site. No signage is proposed.
