Adopt a Hydrant

The City appreciates the members of our community who adopt fire hydrants. Keeping a hydrant clear of snow, ice, and tall grass will help safeguard your neighborhood. We encourage individuals or groups to take part in this program.

 

Online Form

Paso 1.Choose to adopt a hydrant as an individual or a group

You can adopt a single hydrant as an individual, or multiple hydrants as a group. As an individual, if you would like to adopt more than one hydrant, you will need to complete a separate form for each hydrant. Groups can also schedule a tour of their local Fire Station. 

If you would like to adopt 1 hydrant, complete the form as an individual and select a single hydrant in the next step.

If your organization would like to adopt 10 or more hydrants, choose your local fire station in the next step.

Note that you will have to type an address in the search bar to view the available hydrants, shown as yellow dots. Fire Stations are shown as red dots.

Write down the hydrant number or name of the Fire Station to fill in on the application form.

Paso 3.Review the Care & Safety Guidelines

You will need to confirm that you have read and agree to these guidelines in the application form.

Paso 5.We'll review your form

For individual hydrant adoptions, we'll email you within 2 business days with your confirmation and adoption certificate. You'll also get an email confirmation with your mygrcity points code worth 1,000 points. If you are not already registered to earn points, visit http://www.mygrcitypoints.com/. You can redeem points for some great rewards.

For group adoptions, a Grand Rapids Fire Captain will contact you or your group leader to discuss which hydrants the group will adopt and care. They can also schedule a fire station tour if the group would like. The Fire Captain will issue certificates and mygrcity points.
