Do you want to hang a banner on a city-owned light pole? We allow organizations to hang banners on light poles to promote events. You can apply for the permit here.

Online Form

Step 1.Review the banner requirements before applying

Make sure to start the process early. We recommend checking availability at least a month before you want to hang your banner. We also recommend that you use a sign or printing contractor. This process can be difficult to do on your own.

Banner timing and payment:

  • You'll need to submit your application at least 14 days in advance (no more than 1 year in advance).
  • It costs $170.00 for each application and $0.38 per pole per day.
  • Once you submit your application and it's approved, you'll receive an invoice via email.

Banners restrictions:

  • No political banners
  • No advertisements for a product
  • No reflective banners or banners with flashing lights
  • No banners that attempt to direct or influence street traffic in any way.
  • No banners that obstruct traffic signals or signs.
  • City retains the right to refuse permits for any reason and revoke permits at any time.
  • Permits cannot be reassigned to another party without prior authorization from the City.

Step 2.Decide where you want to hang your banner

Decide which light pole you want to hang your banner(s) on. You can check pole availability once you start the application process by entering a date range and selecting the pole from the map.

Step 3.Design your banner

It's a good idea to review the Banner Specifications. After you choose an available light pole, your contractor will check the size of your banner to see if you need extra hardware.
