Step 1.Make sure you're eligible to apply

For each academy, the Grand Rapids Police Department seeks a diverse group of participants.

All participants must:

  • Live or work in the City of Grand Rapids
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have no prior felony convictions
  • Have no misdemeanor convictions within the last three years

Step 2.Gather your information

You'll need this info to complete the application:

  • Driver’s License
  • Two Character References - Name, Address, and Phone

Step 3.Complete our application

Applications for the 2023 CPA have closed. Check back in Fall 2024 for the next annual session application.

Step 4.We’ll review your application

We'll review your application and then notify you of the outcome in writing. You can expect a response in 1-2 weeks. Keep in mind that submitting this form doesn't guarantee acceptance into the academy.
