Request Trash/Recycling Cart Size Swaps

Step 2.Choose your new cart size

Here are our available waste cart sizes:

• 32 gallon cart*- good for small size family household. $3.63 per use
• 64 gallon cart - ideal for a medium size family. $6.05 per use
• 96 gallon cart - works for a large family that may not recycle $8.47 per use 

*32 gallon cart size option is only available for trash carts.

Step 3.Prepare to pay possible fees

You are eligible for one free cart size swap per location on each account.  Additional cart size swaps may be requested by contacting the 311 department for a fee of $27.50 which is deducted from your PAYT account. This fee offsets the cost of cart delivery. Check your PAYT account balance prior to submitting cart swap request.

 In person cart size swapping currently unavailable. 

Step 4.Locate the cart number of your current cart

This number is located on the front of your cart underneath your lid.

Is this number hard to read on your cart? Can't locate this number on your cart? No worries. Our 311 agents will still be able to help you.

Step 5.Give us a call

Request a cart swap to one of our customer service agents. Call 311 or 616-456-3000. You can call us Monday- Friday from 8 AM-5 PM. Keep in mind we're closed on weekends and holidays.

You are eligible for one free recycle cart size swap and one free refuse cart size swap. If you request additional cart swaps the $27.50 fee will be debited from your PAYT account. Make sure to check your PAYT account balance before requesting the cart swap, your request will not be processed until the fee has been debited from your account.

This number is located on the front of your cart underneath your lid.
