Apply for an Absentee Ballot

Paso 1.Make sure you're eligible to get an absentee ballot

You can get an absentee ballot if you meet one of these requirements:

• Age: Voter is 60 years of age or older
• Absent: Voter expects to be absent from the community in which he/she is registered for the entire time the polls are open on Election Day
• Physically unable: Voter is physically unable to attend the polls without the assistance of another person
• Religion: Voter cannot attend the polls because of the tenets of his/her religion.
• Election Worker: Voter has been appointed an election precinct inspector in a precinct other than the precinct where he/she resides.
• Confinement: Voter cannot attend the polls because he/she is confined to jail arraignment or trial.

Don't have a printer? Give us a call, and we'll mail you an application. Our number is in the Contact Us section of this page. You can also come to our office to apply and have your ballot issued. You'll need photo ID.

Paso 3.We'll send you a ballot

We'll send the ballot to the address you provide on your application. This can't be another residential address within the city limits.

Paso 4.Return your ballot

When you have completed your ballot, return it to us. Make sure you do this as soon as possible so we get your ballot by 8 p.m. election night. The postmarked date does not apply.

You have three options:

• Mail ballot to us in the envelope provided.
• Drop it off at the address listed in the Contact Us section of this page
• Place it in the drop box outside of 300 Ottawa Avenue NW. (No postage required.)

• You think you will be out of the community where you vote for the whole day
• You physically cannot get to your voting location without help
• Your religion does not allow you to attend the polls
• You are working as an election worker at a precinct other than the one you vote at
• You are on the Absentee Voter Processing Board
• You're awaiting arraignment or trial or you are in jail

Paso 2.Visit our office to apply

You'll find our address in the Contact Us section of this page. You can apply for a ballot and vote during the same visit. Make sure you bring a valid Photo ID. We can also answer any questions you have about the process.

Paso 3.Update your voter registration if it's incorrect

We can help you Update Your Voter Registration if details of your registration are incorrect. If the State's website shows that you aren't registered, we can help you Register to Vote.
